If individually we are a force to be reckoned with, imagine what we could do collectively? Let us begin by redefining success. Real success can only be defined by the amount of people we impact along the way. When someone we meet desires to become more of themselves, to achieve more- that is a result of one conscious individual who chose to share light over darkness. It was an individual who in that instant chose truth over fear and the possible over the impossible. At the lighthouse keeper we encourage individuals to develop a mindset of the conceivable. There is plenty to go around. We should be encouraging each other to become the best version of ourselves.
More often than not we see the opposite happen. We see individuals trying to break each other for the sake of their own ego. We see co-workers going against each other in the fear of one excelling over the other. We see parents belittling their children because they were once belittled. We see friends exude jealousy over each other instead of genuinely supporting each other. We see couples become distant over individual insecurities and unhealed wounds.
Our goal is to dissolve the space between us. We become closer by finding common ground and respecting each other’s differences. Not only respecting other’s differences, but truly being able to celebrate another despite of how similar or not they are to us. Real wins unite. Real wins lead with integrity, humility, and acceptance. Real wins are how we made someone feel about themselves.
Enough is enough. Our ancestors did not come here to work as hard as they did for us to look the other way. We have a challenge for you. Seek to be the person who brings an attitude of possibility into the room. Seek to be the person who thinks ‘it has to do with you” even though it is 5:00 p.m. and your shift is over. Seek to be the one willing to be better after hours when no one is watching. When we are consciously willing to leave a space, a place, and a person much better than we found it, then we have known success.
We should embrace another for their humanity not because they like the same sports as us or because they are from our hometown; rather, because we genuinely care for someone else’s story- even if different from our own. Our identity goes far beyond the labels we link them to. It is up to us to change the course of society. Stay the course. Dissolve the Space Between Us.
